Teething tots – Magic of Discovery

As a mum there is nothing worse that seeing your child in pain from something that mother’s know is inevitable like Teething! This milestone every child goes through can be distressing, painful and quite frankly an awful time for both the child and the parents. Most babies start the teething process between the ages of 4 and 7 months. Most toddlers complete teething and have a full set of teeth by around the age of 3. These teeth usually last until age 6 when adult teeth start to emerge.

There are lots of ways to help teething tots like Amber necklaces, oral gels and liquids, paracetamol, cold chew toys and more but how do you know what is best, what to use and when and at which point you decide to step in with the ibuprofen.

Teething may be accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Excessive biting
  • Drooling more than usual
  • Gum swelling and sensitivity
  • Lots of sucking of thumbs and dummies
  • Irritability
  • Loss of appetite
  • Sleep issues
  • Sudden crying and restlessness

As a mum of now 3 I thought I’d be well prepared this last time around but my youngest is cutting all 4 molars at once and has been in a red cheeked rage all day. He’s been refusing food and drink, teething relief like the cold gel tethers and oral gel (he’s been throwing up after using it) and Paracetamol just hasn’t helped. My little boy is usually exploring the house all day, getting into cupboards, hiding under tables, pushing cars around and so full of beans but not today. He’s been extra sooky, irritable and cranky and not in the mood for fun and games and wanting to cuddle all day (while still crying).

Seeing your child like this is heart breaking. I’m one of those mums who try everything natural before resorting to  needing over the counter medication (I’m the same for myself too). I like to think our bodies are capable of fighting off many things like colds and flu’s but when it comes to pain I just want my kids to feel better. For this I trust non other than Nurofen for Children. Nurofen gets temperature back to normal and relieves pain faster then paracetamol so your child can get back to the magic of discovery.

Today I witnessed the miracle of Nurofen with my son. Within 15-20 minutes his cheek’s were no longer flushed and he was asking for “nana” (banana). The flavour is great for the kids making it easy to give to them and the bottle is easy to measure the right dosage (even at night). Thanks to Nurofen my happy little explorer was back to discovering his big little world!.Its important to encourage your kids to discover new things about the world. They constantly discover and learn new things from experiences in life so why waste time with pain and fever.

Nurofen works quickly to reduce the discomfort of a fever and soothe away pains from teething, headache, sore throats, high temperatures and minor aches and strains. Nurofen for Children gets to work in just 15 minutes and lasts for up to 8 hours in fever. When you discover something that works like magic you have to share it with friends. Nurofen was magic for us and I’ll definitely be using it again when needed.

Disclaimer, I have not been paid for this post by Nurofen however this post is for a nuffnang competition.
