When I was first given the opportunity to try Hypoxi, I was told that you could lose up to 30 centimetres in 4 weeks. I thought that sounds great but I doubted that would happen for me.
4 weeks later, 12 sessions complete and I have dropped 4 kilos and over 40 centimetres combined off my stomach, hips, thighs & bum. These results would make anyone happy but for me the best result by far is how my skin has improved on my thighs & bum. The cellulite hasn’t vanished completely but I feel more confident about my legs now than I ever have. This was an added bonus to the weight & centimetre’s lost as I didn’t really expect it.
There are a few different hypoxi devices which will differ from studio to studio but the most popular & the one I tried was the L250. From the waist down your body is concealed in a vacuum chamber while the upper part is out in the open. You are lying down & pedalling a bike for 30 minutes while the vacuum is going on & off at different intervals set to the right suction& timing as decided by your consultant.
Your temperature & heart rate are monitored throughout the 30 minutes. Your heart rate is monitored to ensure you stay in the fat burning zone. Some may sweat a little like me but it is not a hard workout. Your temperature is monitored to ensure your fatty bits are warming up enough for the vacuum to be the most effective in improving blood flow throughout your lower body so that you lose fat in those stubborn areas.
The first session felt a bit bizarre. The whole vacuum sensation took a bit to get used to but after the initial surprise you know what it’s going to feel like & actually start enjoying the whole laying down while exercising experience while imagining the fat is being sucked out of you.
For all if this to work though you have to follow some simple hypoxi guidelines which include maintaining a healthy diet, drinking up to 2 litres of water a day & doing 3 sessions a week for optimal results. One of the big things you have to stick to is not eating any carbs 4-6 hours after your hypoxi session. They also recommend not doing any other exercise in that time period so the hypoxi can work its magic.
To sum it all up, it’s a pretty simple workout, their guidelines were easy to stick with & 30 minutes out of your day 3 times a week is much better than an hour a day 5 times a week and you get more satisfying results.
