Eco Store Shampoo & Conditioner | Review
Malcolm and Melanie Rands started ecostore from their home in a permaculture eco-village in New Zealand in 1993. They had been using sustainable, organic gardening practices on their property for years but realised their family was still being exposed to a number of toxic chemicals through the household cleaners and body care products they were using.
Back then there was so little choice available that they decided it was time to look into producing healthier products, with no toxic or unnecessary chemicals, that would work just as well as mainstream brands. They got expert help to start developing laundry products with a philosophy of ‘health first’ that still holds true today. If there’s any doubt about the safety of an ingredient for people’s health as well as the environment, a safer alternative must be found.
With ecostore your health comes first, which is why ecostore choose plant and mineral based ingredients over petrochemical ones wherever possible. Just because an ingredient is plant based, however, doesn’t necessarily mean its safe for your health.
On review is the Normal Shampoo and conditioner.
Plant-based shampoo with natural cleansing agents to gently cleanse and revive your hair without removing its natural protective oils. Ecostore shampoo is safer for the environment. With proper greywater systems in place the wash water from your shower or bath can safely be re-used on your flower gardens, lawns and trees. Using safer plant and mineral based formulations is also better for the overall health of your septic tank.
Plant-based conditioner with sweet almond oil to add softness, shine and lustre to your hair. Enhanced with sweet almond oil to help prevent tangles while adding body and shine. Provides natural conditioning and protection.
Ecostore product promise means their products are:
- Plant and mineral based, with no nasty chemicals
- Independently tested to work so you don’t have to compromise on performance
- Super concentrated so a little goes a long way
- Not tested on animals
ecostore is a cruelty free accredited company, meaning we don’t test our products on animals except for a group of willing human volunteers. We’ve added the PETA logo to our packaging to show our commitment to animal rights. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is the world’s largest animal rights organisation. In return for using their logo we signed PETA’s statement of assurance verifying that we do not conduct or commission any animal tests on ingredients, formulations, or finished products and pledge not to do so in the future. - Proudly GE free
- A pleasure to use

May 30, 2012 at 12:14 PMSo my GF gave me some sample sachets of this shampoo and conditioner at our mothers group and told me to put up a review here is I liked it. Sachets were slightly small for a full test so after using it and having seen a change in my hair I went out to purchase some (I had never even noticed it before on the shelf which is a shame) Very pleased with the fact that it didn't dry the scalp. I tend to get dandruff if I use certain shampoos or too much of them. A small amount really is all you need (remember sachet amount when you squeeze it out). I have since seen you have HEAPS of products out there so have been picking up a few when I shop... Using the baby shampoo for my 6 month old and like one of the comments above said no more craddle cap! I was using Johnson products but since switching to natural ones I have seen a huge difference in his skin.

May 30, 2012 at 12:06 PMFrizzy hair me is no more!! Just clean bouncy curly hair!! (wish I could upload a pic here) The shampoo doesn't strip clean my hair and the conditioner doesn't coat your hair with that waxy stuff that makes your hair feel oily in a few hours! Converted my mum and sisters too (genetic curls we call it) as they have all complained about the same things. would love to try some other kinds of eco beauty stuff maybe body wash, body lotions etc

May 28, 2012 at 11:47 AMLove, Love, LOVED this shampoo and conditioner. I've actually seen it in store before but I always seem to purchase the same shampoo (I guess we all tend to get into that groove of buying what we know) But I'm pleased to say I am a new Fan... So much so I have even converted my friends... we always complain to each other about that horrible weighed down feeling from leading brands and the need to wash your hair more often. Well with Eco store my hair feels light but not flying away, moisturised and nourished but not oily and waxy, and best of all is you use WAY less!! Maybe its because I don't have to wash it daily but even when using it you only need a small amount (very concentrated shampoo) My husband usually used "mens" stuff and I even saw him using it the other day and when I asked him he said he ran out and tried it and he "didn't mind it".... so that's saying a lot..lol

May 28, 2012 at 11:42 AMI usually buy what ever is on sale when I shop so it was nice to try something new. I loved the smell of the shampoo but couldn't see on the bottle what the fragrance was. A small amount went a LONG way... I have short hair and over shampooed the 1st time..lol My hair is fine and tends to get knotty when I shampoo (until I condition) but I found that the water was just running through my hair and it didn't feel like the shampoo had taken all natural oils out of my hair. The conditioner (again too much the 1st time) left my hair nourished and soft. My hair is usually oily again by the next day so I wash every day however I've been able to go 2-3 days even without "needing" to wash again. Took me a while to find it in store but have since noticed other items in store like laundry, dish, cleaning etc and have purchased them all to try out. Thanks again MWWAH for introducing me to a new product!

May 23, 2012 at 1:22 PMThanks for letting me review @mwwah!! I'm usually pretty fussy when it comes to hair care but lately with everything increasing I need to avoid the salon expensive brands and try something cheaper but also with less chemicals. I'm on the other side of 40 and my hair is starting to fall out so someone suggested a shampoo change to an eco friendlier product to see if my hair was falling out from the chemicals. I was my hair daily so almost 2 weeks of daily use and my hair is feeling better and looking better. It has this squeeky clean feel but not a chemical clean feel (you'll understand when you try it) Also not sure what the fragrance was but MMMMM smelt delish!! 75mls didn't last long but I have just purchased more (and the washing powder). I've also switched the kids to the gentle formula one and my daughter's hair is finally growing!!

May 23, 2012 at 12:46 PMHaving 3 kids suffering eczema and myself having psoriasis I decided to trial myself to see how we all went. I have to say that I have since gone out to purchase more and I've decided I will no longer purchase other brands. My son 12 months old has had a head full of cradle cap since 7 weeks old and nothing was getting rid of it! I tried everything from over the counter products from the chemist to olive oil and other home remedies. Everything we tried left his hair falling out!! I've washed his hair 3 times over not quite 2 weeks and NO MORE CRADLE CAP!! Also my daughter 4 yrs old gets eczema at he base of her hair and it too has cleared up! My psoriasis wasn't as itchy and I have since purchases the anti dandruff formula which is even better for the psoriasis. My daughter and I have very fine fly away horrible hair but this shampoo left it feeling clean without that chemical clean feel! Light weight but moisturised and luscious... My hair has honestly never looked better!!
