Anna Minns | Daily Lime
Tell us a bit about YOU and your background:
I am Anna Minns, Founder of Daily Lime. I am a 33 year old Sydneysider mum of 2 gorgeous little boys, former lawyer (criminal prosecutor) and I’m passionate about all things green.
What is your biggest indulgence?
Sleeping in!
What are your tips to achieving the ideal work/life balance?
I think what is ideal is different for everybody. For me finding the balance involves spending at least a couple of days a week with my boys, and also having at least a couple of days a week to myself to feel like an adult, dress up for work, use my skills and work on my project.
What (or who) has been your inspiration in life?
Not one person in particular. I’m inspired by strong, yet kind and compassionate women. Women who devote their lives to their families and local communities, as well as women who have been trail blazers in business and government.
What is your favourite book or inspiring quote and why?
I was really inspired by Richard Branson’s autobiography and his approach to life and business: “Just do it”
What has been one of your biggest achievements?
My kids!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Huh ? Spare time? I try to make the most of it and fill it with my favourite things: dancing, eating yummy food, chatting to friends.
What difference has being in business for yourself made in your life?
It has made all the difference! I am in charge of my own time. I decide when to work, when to hang out with my boys, I can be there when they are sick. It is also very exciting and affirming to have created something myself and to watch it grow!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Running a successful small business, making a difference for the environment. Having a happy home and a good work/life balance.
Tell us briefly about your business:
The daily lime provides a daily tip on how to provide a greener lifestyle. Daily lime tips show people how to make small incremental changes to green their lifestyles that are easy, fun, stylish, money-saving AND feel good! The idea is that when lots of people make small incremental changes to green their lifestyles it can make a positive impact on the environment. The goal is to make green mainstream.
What was the inspiration behind the business?
While un dertaking a Masters of Environmental Law I discovered in my studies and research many ways that individuals and communities can drive change. My research also showed that people want to do something for the environment but they don’t know what or how to go about it. More importantly, they don’t want these changes to affect their pocket or their lifestyle. I wanted to provide a great source of green advice for those of us whose life is full with work, family and just living.
What is your role?
Founder. I am the researcher, writer, web developer, email designer, PR and marketing consultant, social media adviser and coffee runner.
What is one challenge you faced during your business journey?
On the day I launched I somehow managed to delete all the content off the website – and then had to run out the door to collect my 3yr old from preschool!
What has been your greatest success?
Launching! It was a year of planning, writing, building and raising start-up funds – and talking all my friends and family’s ears off about it.
What are your top tools/resources for business?
My only tool is my trustworthy computer. My best resources are social media sites like twitter and facebook – they are invaluable in spreading my tips and building my subscriber list.

Through facebook and twitter.
What piece of advice would you offer other business women?
Just do it!
